C.F. HazlewoodFormer Director, Texas Department of Criminal Justice
C.F. Hazlewood, Jr. is native Texan, married to Kathleen (Kathy). They have been married 36 years and have four children son Carl 34 and wife Emily , daughter Lindsey 31 and husband Caleb, Sarah 24 and husband Cordy, and youngest son Daniel 20 a redshirt freshman quarterback in college. Their daughters are carrying two grandchildren that are to be born this Nov. and Dec.
He is a graduate of Texas A&M University 1979 and was a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps. He left the USMC and began a career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in January 1983 and retired this August as a Director after beginning as a Correctional Officer and holding many other positions within the agency for 30+ years of service.
He trusted in Christ and was saved in 1984 and began pastoring a church in 1985. While pastoring and working for the TDCJ he completed a Bachelors degree from the College of Biblical Studies Houston in 1991, completed a Masters degree at Dallas Theological Seminary in 1997, and received a Doctors degree in Restorative Justice in January 2013.
He has served his current church The Fellowship of Huntsville Church for 16 years as senior pastor. He has also been involved in prison ministry since 1992 on a regular basis in preaching, teaching, and discipling offenders on a weekly basis. He was fortunate to receive the Governor of Texas Volunteer Service Award in 2008 for prison ministry.
He enjoys all aspects of Christian ministry and has served on mission endeavors in Haiti, Colombia, and evangelizing and discipling the indigenous redneck tribes of East Texas. His current church has planted 68 churches in the country of India since he has been pastoring there and he puts a great focus on missions work in other parts of the world also.
He is constantly amazed at how God changes the lives of people that most would not want anything to do with and is blessed to be able to work in this area. He enjoys his family and likes to hunt and fish when time permits.
